About the in-person role

Tutors provide live, small-group or one-on-one math support in local school or program settings. Scheduling depends on student and program needs, with many opportunities during the school day.

  • In-person tutoring for students in local program settings where active needs are open
  • Reliable transportation and punctuality are important
  • School-day availability may be needed for small-group programs
  • Clear communication with the Math-A-Matics team and families/program contacts

Subjects and students

Math-A-Matics supports students who need patient, encouraging instruction tailored to their goals, confidence, and current skill level.

  • Grades 2-12 and beyond, depending on program fit
  • Foundational math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, and test prep
  • Students catching up, keeping up, or getting ahead
  • Experience with learning differences, bilingual support, or teaching credentials is a plus

Math-A-Matics looks for tutors who are dependable, encouraging, and strong communicators.

Good-fit tutor qualities

  • You enjoy helping students feel capable and confident in math
  • You have at least 1 year of paid tutoring, teaching, classroom support, or instructional experience
  • You can explain math clearly and patiently in a live setting
  • You are dependable, professional, and comfortable following program expectations

Interview note

Qualified applicants may be invited to schedule an interview with the Math-A-Matics team. The interview will include a short live teaching demo, and preparation instructions will be sent before the interview.
